When editing a SWF of Flash CS3 (V9) or Flash CS4 (V10), you can edit almost all elements of the SWF file, such as adding or changing texts and images, assigning new URL, adding ActionScript to control the animation more precisely, etc. The latest version (V4.5) of Sothink SWF Quicker supports ActionScript 3.0. If you only grasp basic Flash knowledge, or know nothing about ActionScript, it may be difficult for you to realize this Flash effect. Then you can turn to some good tool for help. In this tutorial, I will show you a simple way to get this Flash blur effect without adopting any ActionScript.

Preparation:
Download the images used in this tutorial.

Step 1 Add Flash Blur Filter Effect for the First Image
1. Launch Sothink SWF Quicker V4.0.
2. Choose File -> New -> New Movie to create a new blank document. And then go to the Properties panel, and set the movie properties as follows:

3. Choose File -> Import to Library, and browse to import the images I provided for this sample. Now in the Library panel, you’ll see this:

4. Drag the “1.jpg” image from the library to the stage.
5. While the image is still selected, go to the Transform panel, and set its X, Y values to 175, 130, as follows:

6. On the stage, right-click the image and select Convert to Symbol from the pop-up menu. And then choose “Movie Clip” in the newly opened dialog to convert this image to a movie clip symbol.

7. Click on frame 10 of layer1, and press F6 to insert a keyframe. After that click on frame 20 and press F6 again.
8. While you’re still on frame 20, select the image and open the Filter panel. Now click the Add Filter button and select Blur in the pop-up menu. And then you can set the options for the Blur filter as follows:

9. Go back to frame 10 and open the Properties Panel, and then choose Motion in the Tween drop down list. Now the timeline is displayed as follows:

Step 2 Add Flash Blur Filter Effect for the Second Image
1. Insert a new layer (layer 2) in the timeline.
2. Click on the frame 15 of layer 2 and press F6 to insert a keyframe.
3. Drag 2.jpg from the library to the stage. While the image is still selected, go to the Transform panel, and set its X, Y values to 175, 130.
4. Now convert the image to a movie clip symbol. (Repeat the 6th operation of step 1)
5. After that click on frames 25, 35 and 45 of layer 2 and respectively press F6. Now the timeline is displayed as follows:

6. Go back to the frame 15 of layer 2, select the image and apply Blur filter for it. (Repeat the 8th operation of step 1, and set same properties for the Blur filter.)
7. Select again the frame 15 and open the Properties Panel, and then choose Motion in the Tween drop down list.
8. Click on frame 45, select the image and apply Blur filter for it. (Repeat the 8th operation of step 1, and set same properties for the Blur filter.)
9. Go back to frame 35, open the Properties Panel, and then choose Motion in the Tween drop down list. See the current timeline:

Step 3 Smoothly Transit Back to the First Image
1. Insert a new layer (layer 3) in the timeline.
2. Click on frame 40 of layer 3 and press F6 to insert a keyframe.
3. Drag 1.jpg from the library to the stage. While the image is still selected, go to the Transform panel, and set its X, Y values to 175, 130.
4. Now go back to the frame 40, select the image and convert it to a movie clip symbol. (Repeat the 6th operation of step 1)
5. Click on frame 50 of layer 3 and press F6.
6. Go to the frame 40, select the image and apply Blur filter for it. (Repeat the 8th operation of step 1, and set same properties for the Blur filter.)
7. Select frame 40, open the Properties Panel, and then choose Motion in the Tween drop down list. See the current timeline:

Step 4 Preview Your Movie
1. Press Ctrl + Enter in your keyboard to preview the movie, now you will get the effect shown in the beginning of this tutorial.

1. Toolbar

 
Sothink SWF Easy 6.0 centralizes the most stapled commands and drawing tools together as Toolbar. When you need some shortcut way to do something, go to the top of the program and find your tool in Toolbar.

2. Timeline

More clear Timeline continues to let you do some easy setting to element and effect there. The function of hiding and locking element through Timeline is available from version 6.0 on.
 
3. Stage

Version 6.0 adds several small buttons below the canvas to help setting canvas more conveniently.

4. Properties panel

Instead of doing settings in different dialogs, now almost all the properties settings are done in Properties panel, which is at the bottom of program. Select an element, a scene or the whole animation, and then Properties panel turns to be the one specifically for the type of what you selected. Different Properties panel has different tabs under it and in the tabs, are the properties setting items you can edit. So when you want to edit something, go straightly to Properties panel.

Background music and preloader are also added in the Properties panel for the whole animation.

5. Resource panel

 
Built-in resources are all named in version 6.0. You can input some keyword and search the resources of which names or groups relative with the keyword. The panel can show you the resources’ categories, different resources including in different classifications, and list all the resources the program finds for you.

6. Component panel

Hopefully the new interface is attractive to both old users and all the Flash fans. And maybe the two mose important changing details below are more satisfactory:

1.       All the most stapled tools, including drawing tools, are centralized together as Toolbar on the top of the program. Then you can find every tool you need more conveniently.

2.       All the properties setting work are moved to be done in the Properties panel at the bottom of the program. You can edit position, fill, line, color transform, action and other special settings here instead of opening many different dialogs. When you want to do some setting, whatever to an element or the whole animation, you will never be confused because every time you can directly go the Properties panel.

Example:

Step1: Draw a rectangle on the stage.

Step2: Right-click the button, and choose “Convert to Symbol” in the context menu. In the popup “Convert to Symbol” window, choose “Button” and click “OK”.

Step3: Choose this button on the stage and go to the Action panel, input:

Step4: In preview mode, when you click on the button, the http://www.sothink.com page is opened. 
You can change the URL address to whatever you like.

With morph function you can go from one keyframe to another and specify changes in the animation and let the Flash program create the frames in between.

Here we will take a photo for instance, and you will witness the process that a goat turns out to be a giraffe.

Let’s begin!

1. In Properties panel, set Width to 470, and set Height to 212.

2. In timeline, rename “Layer1″ to “image”. Then add a new layer and name it as “background”.

3. In frame 1 of the “background” layer, import the background.png from the imagetween folder, and set its X, Y values to 235,105.5 from the Transform panel. In frame 90, press F6 to insert a keyframe.

4. In frame 1 of “image” layer, import the pic_1.jpg from the imagetween folder. From the Transform panel, set X, Y values of this image to 175,105.

5. In frame 15 of “image” layer, insert a blank keyframe and import pic_2.jpg to this frame. Set its X, Y values to 175,105.

6. Right click any frame between frame 1 and 15 of the “image” layer, and choose Create Image Tween from the context menu. Now this image tween animation of changing a goat to a giraffe is almost completed. You can click the preview button to see the effect.

7. After previewing the effect, you may find that the transform process is a little rough, so you should take more time to configure the effect to be more exquisite.

8. Click any frame between frame 1 and 15 of the “image” layer, and click Configure the Tween… in the Properties panel to open the Image Tween Editor dialog box.

9. In the Image Tween Editor dialog box, click to add hint points in the Source window. And adjust positions for corresponding hint points appeared in the Destination window.

10. Finally, click OK to save the transform process. Now you can click preview button to see the goat changes to a giraffe.

Tips:

1) The more hint points you added, the more exquisite the transform process will be.

2) To judge whether the hint points are added correctly and efficiently, you can see that if the image in the Preview window become clearer and clearer.

3) Right click a hint point may delete it.
