I am working with some swf files, and previous to this, they have been exporting as fla files just fine. In fact, the same files continue to export fine.

There are some swf files I have however, that export corrupted.

When I export them to FLA, I try to open them with Flash 8 and I get an error message that "the docfile has been corrupted".

Here is what I am doing exactly (which works for some files, and not for others):

Open swf with the decompiler.
click on export to fla/flex button.
on popup, choose flash 8 as the export type because that is the program I have, then export.
(note: the previous files all had flash 10 as the recommended, the ones that don't work have flash 6 recommended)
I go to flash 8, and try to open the fla.
Some files work, others get the error.

Anyone know what this means? Is it the swf that is corrupted? or is something happening during the export?

I would probably have exported as flash 10 simply because the flash player from Adobe is free, and most people have it installed.

I know you are exporting to FLA and not publishing an swf, but still, these are the people who are going to be your audience. Since some items that DO work with Flash version 10 DO NOT work at all with previous versions or do not work correctly. Therefore, they would export with errors. That may be what is causing the corrupt export. Perhaps Flash 8 cannot handle all of the scripts in the original file.

Hope this helps.
