Over the past couple of days I have been having problems with flash files that have run on my sites for years.

Seems that anything which uses transparency is not transparent any more. For instance the header on my main site:

http://www.ahgweb.com

The clouds in the background are a movie clip which loops continuously.

When I view the page with older versions of the Adobe's flash player, all is fine. If I view it in IE8 or IE9, it is still fine. However, if I view it with Firefox, Chrome or Safari the clouds disappear when the foreground graphic appears.

http://www.ahgweb.com/flash02.html has a rotating transparent globe. If you view the page with IE8 or IE9, the effect works, otherwise it is a green circle with a light reflection on top.

Any way to work around this, or has Adobe become a Micro$loth subsidiary?

What version of Flash player are you using?

The current version, which is causing the problem, is 10.3.181.14 and it is not allowing transparency in my swf's.

IE just demanded I install the latest version of flash. It would not display ANY flash files.

After upgrading, now my movies do not work in IE either.

There is a problem, however, I know of other designers who use Adobe's product with transparency which do not behave this way.

Sothink needs to find out what has changed as our work with this product is no longer functioning, which makes it worthless.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM!!!

Yes, I just updated Flash Player to your same release and your site stopped working. :(

Sothink should take a fast action now.

Have you already sent them a notice?

My work in AS3 seems to still run fine. I need to test it more anyway.

Maybe the issue is only in AS2?

Figured out the problem, and it was a great feature in Quicker . . .

PNG images are sometimes quite large, so the ability to export as a JPG file AND keep the transparency really helped me shrink down some of my work.

Flash P;ayer 10.3 no longer supports that method. So I had to export the PNG with Lossless compression. That meant the header file went from 92k to 267k . . . quite slow loading compared to what it had been.

How to solve:

Change the properties of the image to PNG Lossless compression OR . . .

export the image and convert to a transparent GIF file. Then import it and replace the PNG files.
