Is there any way to retain the menu settings from page to page?

For instance, if you go here: http://aleph.dss-demo.com/NewStuff/index.shtml

and click on About ALEPH, the sub menu appears. Once I click on one of the sub menu links, such as Contact ALEPH, the menu resets to the original, closed position. Is there a way to keep one or more sub menus open as the visitor navigates from page to page until they decide to close it?

Sure hope this is possible. Thanks!

Hi

Please click Advanced in Global Settings, and check State Recording to have a try. And you had better update all your webpage afterward.
Hope it helps and have a nice day! :)

Just a quick heads up about cindyrae's solution.....

Assume for a moment that your site visitor bookmarks your homepage, then navigates around the site and finally moves on to another site. When your site visitor returns to your site via bookmark, the menu will still show the LAST place the visitor had the menu open to on your site.

There is, apparently, no way for the treemenu to track the active page and to show it as selected.

Just an FYI. I am living with it for now, but am seeking another solution.

Yes! Update your Tree Menu version to 2.2.
Got To Global Settings>Highlight.
Check the 'Auto Highlight current node" box.

This will highlight and keepo your menu open to the page you are on.

I used this to get around the problem.
Go to advanced on sub-tree settings. copy the java code for expanding the subtree.

Insert the following code into the webpages you want the menu to stay open for, replacing the blue code with the one specific to the submenu you want opened.

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
stExpandSubTree('tree6c21',1,0);
</script>

Worked for me.

Thanks LogicalStep!
Sincerely appreciated.

I figured it out about an hour ago.
Also another point to add is that EACH menu/submenu you want to keep expanded must be highlighted, THEN copy the code for that Sub menu.
Each sub menu has a different set of coordinates...

Alternatively:
I inserted it into my Body tag like this
<body onLoad="stExpandSubTree('MyTree',1,0);">

Thanks!

I have the same probem, so I was trying out all the solutions above.
www.coolbandanas.com

Suddenly, all my pages come up witha 406 error: Page Not Acceptable

Exactly: Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /vests/6529-sportvests.htm could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

What just happened? I can go to the Home Page, which still has my OLD nav bar in place, but as soon as I click on any of the SoThink menu items, the site crashes.

I might add that I am using an Include Page in the left cell of the page.

I'm not sure which file I can upload for you to look at so I'll attach the Pagelet .stm file.

Okay, this is really weird.
Concerning my above posts -- The problem must be with Firefox. I went to my server and could see the files there, but couldn't opent them with Firefox. I tried Chrome and Explorer, and they work.

So is there a known problem with Firefox that I need to fix?
Is this just me, or will this happen will anyone who uses Firefox?

Is there a fix for this?

Dale

Hi there,

We have checked the URL you mentioned in Firefox 3.0.6, and the menu works properly on our end.

So we hope you can inform us of your operation system and the browser version, as we need to reproduce the issue and then check the cause for it.

And if it is possible, please upload your menu STM file as well!

Thanks a lot.
