apologies for the misspelling.:)

Your application does not work when the "javascripts" and "images" are located in the different directories. And only works when HTMl, js and images are located in the same directory. that defeats the purpose of "structuring your website" - where javascripts are stored in 1 location, and images in another making it neat to use.

I tried all possible combinations, trying publishing it through Publish, copy resource folders, etc. still blank widjets with red crosses moving along.

Hi Dunga,

The scroller resource files can be (and in my opinion, should be) placed in their own subdirectory/folder. Go to the Unofficial Resource For The Sothink JavaScript Web Scroller and select Getting Started from the menu.

Regards,

HOnestly, i ttried today like 10 different times to maku sure i followed all steps one by one. still like evil genius the application dislikes the separate folders.

Hi Dunga,

I'll do this step by step to show you that it works.

1) On my pittwebsites.com server I created a subdirectory/folder named scroller and, within the scroller subdirectory/folder I created a subdirectory/folder named scroller_files.

2) I created an HTML page and saved it as index.html

2) I opened the scroller program (Version 1.20, Build 80214) and loaded the Amazon style template.

3) I selected the Web Path tab and entered the following URL for both JavaScript and Images:

http://pittwebsites.com/scroller/scroller_files/

4) I published the scroller. I saved the scroller's JavaScript file to:

C:\WebSites\pittwebsites.com\scroller\scroller_files\scroller.js

and I indicated that the resource files should be copied to:

C:\WebSites\pittwebsites.com\scroller\scroller_files\

5) I copied the link to stscode.js to the <head> of the HTML page and I copied the link to scroller.js to the <body> of the HTML page.

6) I uploaded the entire scroller subdirectory/folder to the server.

You can see the completed project here:

http://pittwebsites.com/scroller/

Regards,

it is important.

Hi Dunga,

Yes, I saved the HTML file in the scroller folder. Think of it as the site root.

ok, Bill
here is the ROOt of all problems:

the application will only work if js and the images are located in the same folder.

that is not good.

I have just now followed "yota-by-yota" your steps and stil have this problem:

the application creates now its own folder called dwwidget_wscroller2008 and places all js and images into it, eventhough i have specified where the js and images supposed to be...

:((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

please compare the working in the same directory script:
and the one with non working one(where it supposed to be in different directories)

working one:

sts_bs("jwscroller4dbf",["none",1,"#454545","#FFFFFF","","no-repeat"]);

non working where Javascript files are placed in the webpath option into /js folder and images into /images folder respectively.

sts_bs("jwscroller4dbf",[20080214,"/images",""," blank.gif",4,1,1,5,"60%","left",1,1,127,100,1],

interesting fact:
if you only type

/js in the webpath and NOTHING in the images option THEN

the application immediately creates a folder called dwidget 2008etc and copies all images there.

WEIRD

Thank you Bill, I was directing my question to the DEVELOPERS of the software as well, , you are just one wonderfull person who offers free advise on their behalf.
NO problems.

I hope THEy will read it, as usual, and reply here.
Thank you

similar problem they had with DHTML menu, and they buil the button where in the webpath one could navigate to the respective js and images folders,

I am still surprised that they did not think of it in the JS scroller...
hope that this will reach them in time.

I just created a dynamic scroller where the product images were in one directory and the source files resided in their own directories, (i.e ../scroller/scripts & ../scroller/images). The problem with this is it will not show my products in the scroller. I have to change the directory files for the scroller images to the location of my product directory and it works fine. Except the button, outline and background images which makeup the scroller are now in a directory with over 100+ product images, (including thumbs). I built a CMS to manage the images for my products just to keep my hands out of that directory.

This would be a nice one for the wish list.
