Hi Micropat,

The support staff should announce the new item condition scripts as they're released, and they should add them to their "samples" at:

http://www.sothink.com/webtools/dhtmlme ... /index.htm

Also, I've asked the support staff to send me new code as soon as it is developed. I'll create working examples and add them to my site.

Regards,

Is it possible in the latest version of DHTMLmenu to close a menu after clicking on a submenu item?

To reiterate, I need this because all my menu items link to a frame.

Any new possible item condition scripts?

Thank you very much.

Is there anything I could do? I'd really like to upgrade to 6.x, but this is the only thing holding me back.

Hi,
I'm too waiting for the new conditions. I did upgrade to v6 and which is okay for the main part of my website.
For a minor menu, 3 icon-like-buttons opening an iframe, I made a 4th closing-cross-button that closes the iframe when hovered. It works but it certainly is second best.

Hello micropat and Bill,

I'm sorry in DHTMLMenu program, V6.x, it did not give such an interface so currently there is not a workaround to support hiding sub menus after clicking some menu item.

Hi, I have a menu with submenus and the submenus need to stay displayed after selection of one of them. However I want them to close when I click somewhere outside the menu. I use the condition code as described here however it doesn't seem to do the trick. It does the trick in DHTMLMenu, but not in IE or FF...
I use DHTMLMenu version 6.6 build 60802.
Hope you can help me...

Hello,

Sorry, that's because it did not give such an interface in Sothink DHTMLMenu 6.6, so currently there is not a workaround to support hiding sub menus after clicking some menu item.

Hope you can understand.

Hi Sophie, thanks for your reaction.

Well, I don't want to click on a menu item, I want to close the submenus when I click somewhere else in the page. So actually NOT on a menu item...
Is that also not supported yet?

And if not in 6.6, is it maybe supported in an older version of DHTLMenu? (Because it works in DHTMLMenu itself?)

Sorry, version 6.6 also does not support it yet. Only previous version of Sothink DHTMLMenu program provide such a interface to close the submenu using onclick feature.

Our program developer will keep working on this issue. If we have any news on this issue, we will let you know soon.

Thanks for your understanding.

I am using javascript to open up a page in an IFrame, and I would like to close the submenu after you click the link. Let me know if anything is available in v7 of DHTML Menu.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to get the latest version of DHTMLMenu (7.3) to close submenus onclick. However, under Global Settings - General you can reduce the amount of time that submenus are displayed after mouseout.

Why are you using JavaScript to open a page in an iframe and why is it important to have submenus close onclick instead of on mouseout?

Regards,

It is only important because that is how Windows works. You click on a menu in any program and the menu disapears. Moving off of it just feels a little different and like we didn't finish programming the menu completely. It's just how you naturally use menus in Windows. But your solution will work temporarily until a enhancement comes out.

Hi Perkley,

If you upgrade to Version 8 of DHTMLMenu, there appears to be a way to close submenus onclick. Try the following:

1) When you create your menu, uncheck "Hide all menus since mouse out..." in Global - General".

2) Select the first item in the menu tree, go to Menu Item - Condition, and add the following code in the Prefix window:
Code:
function stcls()
{
var m;
for(var j=0;j<_STNS._aStMenus.length;j++)
{
  m=_STNS._aStMenus[j];
  m.aPopups[0].fbHideX(0,0,0,1);
}
}
document.onclick=stcls;

You can see a demo at:

http://pittwebs.com/sothink8/iframes/

Regards,
