Since Sothink's Administrator's refuse to address simple matters --- such as keeping out the bots who have been spamming the forum --- which would once again make this a forum fitting for users of their software, I guess I will once again address the problem.

However, this time I will address is to that whatever users are still present can see that spammers are the symptom only. The IT staff's refusal to properly address the problem IS THE PROBLEM.

MAKE REGISTRATION BY BOTS DIFFICULT:

A new "captcha" which is easily installed and has COMPLETELY stopped bots from signing up on ANY AND ALL of my forums is Nucaptcha. You can even get a free version that works 100% of the time. You can see it here: http://www.nucaptcha.com/

I volunteer my time to help you to install and configure the software (it took me all of 30 minutes to download, install, and test). I will be happy to set up a chat client so that you may ask questions, and I will answer them for you.

RESTORE THE FORUM PERMISSIONS TO NORMAL:

The forum will definitely work more smoothly if normal permissions are restored to all users. For instance, a bot does NOT lose its ability to post because it is unable to quote a previous post, use italics or use bold letters. Those who are carrying on a thread seeking help or offering help do somewhat lose our ability to communicate by being hamstrung in this manner. The normal options should be available to everyone in every forum on this board. Not just moderators and administrators.

The "Report Post" option is another problem. I am a mod. I see a post that is offensive . . . why do I need to report it to myself???? What you need to do is make the "Report Post" button available to EVERYONE who visits this forum. You have had spammers here that posted porn and no one could report because the button has been removed by the amateurs running this board.

The fact that one spammer last weekend posted about 5,000 spam messages (I personally removed about 500 posts) shows that the Forum Administration does not want to be bothered about such things. For that reason, a GLOBAL MODERATOR (or two) needs to be assigned so they can clean up all of these posts while you folks do whatever you do when you aren't working.

UPGRADE THE SOFTWARE:

Update to the latest version of PHPBB so that you can take advantage of the latest in antispam technology . . . such as nucaptcha. The latest version is 3.0.9 . . . and is much better at handling spam. I costs you nothing to update, takes very little time, and is so very advantageous.

If you folks care at all about this forum and your customers, please take the time to address these concerns. There are others, but these are the most problematic.

And the feedback forum is closed, it seems. Guess they don't want no stinkin' feedback! This is a Chinese company. Given the culture there and the fact that it is still a communist country, it's no surprise that the people often act like the government. "Keep your mouth shut and just talk about how wonderful we are." Better to cut off discussion than to have to address the issues. Better to take away rights than to have to deal with people that expect and want rights.

Now I know why there is a problem with the spamming.

How in the hell can they worry about copyright violations when their country is the SOFTWARE PIRATE OF THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY WORLD!!!

Wholesale copyright violations are a matter of daily life in China.

I have had software that I wrote end up there.

When I spoke to a representative some time back, I was led to believe this corporation was from Taiwan ... not much better, but better. Less piracy.

I should have looked here: http://whois.domaintools.com/sothink.com

I have had them "turn off" my software in the past, so I guess I need to start looking for a keygen or another hack so that these bitches can't rip me off again.

No more free promotion on other websites . . . quicker is so much like Adobe's product . . . I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't Adobe's software, reverse engineered, and repackaged.

You folks have a lot of explaining to do. Since most of your spammers are Chinese, you're probably a phishing front for some Chinese underworld or government agency.

Think I need to go elsewhere for my software from today forward. No more free plugs on Serif's forums or to my friends or on my websites.

So they lied to you. That's a big warning sign right there.

Thanks very much for all your suggestions given to prevent spams.

Currently, we are working on the forum upgrade and other settings and hope it will be work.

Moreover, we NEVER told or indicated that SourceTec Software Co.,Ltd is located in Taiwan! If you have any relevant evidence, just tell us. Our office is located in Wuhan, Hubei Pro., China.
