Are there any examples of how to animate text on a symbol. For example I want to make a digital clock which is attached to a graphic which moves.

Thanks,
Mike

Something along these lines?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Excellent. That was exactly what I was looking for. I didn't realize I posted this message. I was running around yesterday and I thought I cancelled the submission.

Thanks again.

That is a tiny file but it's more complicated then I thought. Can you write up a quick tip outline how that was created?

OK I think I figured it out.

There were more pieces to the puzzle then I thought.

Symbol 2 movie which was the text which updated the timer had 2 layers. To give it more sense to me I deleted layer 1 after I copied the gotoandplay(1) to the last line of the layer 1's frame 2 action. It's interesting how having 2 keyframes is what makes the timer update itself because if I delete one keyframe it doesn't know enough to keep updating the time.

I would attach the changes I made here as a file but I don't have permissions I guess because I don't see an upload button in this BB to do so.

Thanks again!

Only moderators are allowed to post files here. You can post a link however.

If you are making a clock, you could actually do the entire thing by using only one frame in the main movie.

What I did in the file I sent was:

1. Create a movie clip. The Movie Clip has two frames. The second frame forces the first frame to continually reload, and with a clock that is important.

2. Create a dynamic text block within that movie clip.

3. I used 10 frames for a pair of motion tweens so that the text moved even while being updated.

Hope this helps.
