Hi,

I hope someone can help. We have a business reliant on its web site.

We have tried hard to solve a significant problem without success.

Most pages are affected. Here is one: http://www.adelphi-associates.co.uk/htm ... ourse.html

The menu under "Open Courses" will not close. It is the same with any other page that can be reach with a dropdown menu pointer. In all cases the specific dropdown menu hierarchy that leads to the page will not close.

The problem exists on Chrome and IE, and does not go away if you clear the cache and fully refresh the web page.

We would be very grateful for any help. A previous question to SoThink support has produced no result.

Here is a LINK TO THE PGT file: http://www.adelphi-associates.co.uk/SoT ... ayout1.pgt

Thanks.

Please upload the .pgt file for your menu and post a link to the file in this thread.

Hi,

Many thanks, Bill, for the prompt posting.

I've added a link to the pgt file in the original posting.

Best regards,

Bob Colclough

Hi Bob,

Your .pgt file looks OK. I used it to generate a test menu at http://bestwebmenu.com/adelphi/ and the menu seems to function normally. The problem may be caused by an interaction with another script. Please try the following:

1. Go to the "Getting Started" tab at the Unofficial DHTML Menu Resource Site and edit your .pgt file to conform to those instructions. Using a Web Path, a Global Link Prefix, and a JavaScript include file should clean up your page code and make debugging much easier.

2. Copy and rename one of the problem pages and comment out or delete the slideshow script and see if the menu behaves normally.

Please post back here and let us know what happens.

Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thank you for all your help.

We finally pinned the problem down by starting a new plain menu in Sothink. We selected "New" and "Horizontal Menu" with no template selected. This worked fine.

So we then built it up adding just what we needed in customisation.

So we have concluded :
* There was no interference with other JavaScript
* There are occasional bugs in SoThink caused by a combination of settings.

The message there fore is "Start simple" and gradually build up the menu you need.

Thanks again Bill.
