How to upgrade to the latest version of Sothink DHTML Menu?
Please download the latest version from our download page to install it. Input the registration code to activate Sothink DHTML Menu.
Tips: Because of the great changes in the latest version of Sothink DHTML Menu, please backup your PGT files to make sure the previous menu work well.
Upgrade the menu page created by the previous versions >>
Note: Check the new compatibility list carefully before you upgrade the menus which are created by previous version. This is because we use new engine since DHTML Menu 6.x, in order to make the menu display correctly, you should pay attention to the compatibility.

The publishing method of cross-frame menu is changed into simple way since v6.x. Just publishing the menu into the only page where the menu is, the menu realizes crossing the frame. The users who apply the previous versions below v5.2 should use new publishing method to make cross-frame menu.
If you are an unregistered user, you can get the program's latest trial version at our download page. To upgrade, please uninstall the previous version of Sothink DHTML Menu and install it. If you want to be registered user, you can check "Unregistered Info" in Help command during the period of using the program.
Update the menu pages generated by version 6.0 and above version
Please follow the steps below:
1. Re-publish JS files
Open the *pgt file in the latest version of the program and copy the resource files by clicking "Publish > View/Copy Resource".
2. Upload js files
Upload JavaScript resource files to the server so that you can apply the new functions to your menu.
Menus are updated once upgrading js files. Open the web page with menu to experience the new function in new program.
Update the menu pages generated by version 4.X and 5.X
There are two ways to update menu page:
- Use "DHTML Menu Converting Wizard".
Run "DHTML Menu Converting Wizard" from Start menu. Select the menu pages you want to upgrade. Follow the wizard to update page. See the tutorial to learn clearly.
Note: The wizard can not update the page with cross-frame menu and the page has included js file. Please use the other method to update such pages.
- Open your menu's pgt file in menu program and publish it again. Replace the previous menu code in your web pages and copy the new resource files again.
(If you use DHTML Menu program in Expression Web, FrontPage or Dreamweaver, after you open pgt file in menu program, the page's menu code will be updated automatically.)
Update the menu pages generated by version 3.x
The version 3.x is a very old version of DHTML Menu. To update the menu, please open the menu's pgt file in latest version program. Remove all the old code of menu in your page and do the whole publish steps again. Last, upload your new web page and new resource files to your web server.
If you use DHTML Menu in Expression Web, FrontPage or Dreamweaver, after you open pgt file in menu program, the page's menu code will be updated automatically.
Upgrade the JavaScript file (stmenu.js)
The latest version of stmenu.js file is released with the latest Sothink DHTML Menu. No patch or newer version is available. If you have installed the latest version, you've gotten the latest version js file.

What is the stmenu.js file? Why does the menu need it?
The stmenu.js file is the basic script file for DHTML menu. stmenu.js and other js files are a part of resource files for a menu, which enable the menu to work correctly. So when you publish the menu, you should also publish these resource files too.
Why shall we upgrade the js files?
With new version releases, we will fix some bugs in js files. So please keep close track of the news page on our sites to make sure you are using the latest one.
Do I need to upgrade the js files after I have installed the latest version of menu program?
No. You will get the latest js files with the latest Sothink DHTML Menu installation. So, you needn't to upgrade js files alone.
How to check if I have the latest version of js files?
Please open the stmenu.js file by using a text editor tool such as notepad, etc. You will see in the first line there is a version mark: //Ver: ****. This is the version of your stmenu.js file. Please compare it with the one on our web site. If they are the same, you've got the latest version of js files.
How to install the js files:
After you download the zip file, please open it with an unzip tool like WinZip, etc.
Extract the js files to the folder "resource", which is under Sothink DHTML Menu program directory. E.g. "...\SourceTec\Sothink DHTML Menu\Resource"
Your system will prompt if you want to replace the old one. Click "yes" to finish upgrade.
How to update the existing js files in web sites?
There are three steps to update the menu which is created by the previous DHTML Menu versions.
Step 1: Open the pgt file
Open the pgt file which is created by the previous versions (supported versions: 3.0 and above versions ) in the latest Sothink DHTML Menu, and then click the Publish button, you can choose View/Copy Code to publish the menu.
Step 2: Update the menu's code
Copy the header code and the body code of the menu, switch to the page which has the menu, and paste them so as to take the place of the original header code and the original body code.
Note: Replace and update the codes carefully because the stm31.js has changed into the stmenu.js since the version 6.x.
Step 3: Update the menu's file
Click OK to copy resource files after updating the menu's code.
For the menu, which has not set the JavaScript folder for resource files jet. Copy the resource files to the folder in which the menu page is. So, the resource files and the menu page are in the same folder.
For the menu, which has set the JavaScript folder for resource files. First of all, copy the resource file to temporary directory; and then, place the JavaScript file and image files into the corresponding JavaScript folder on the basis of resource folder.
