The Missing FLA – All Flash Designers’Pain

If the FLA project file is lost or damaged, what a frustrating thing for the author. And such a thing should have been met by someone sometime. There are also many tools help us to retrieve it from SWF. What’s the result? Some tools only can get back resources not the file I can edit. The only one that can generate the FLA file almost similar to the original is Sothink SWF Decompiler.

Sothink SWF Decompiler is more stable and also provides the Mac version. It is able to decompile SWF to FLA projects at a very high success rate. I’ve tried as follows:

1. Launch the program and open my file “wine.swf” through the explorer panel.
2. Click on “Export FLA/FLEX” button, and “Export FLA/FLEX” window pops up;

3. Select “to FLA”;
4. Set an “Export Path”;
5. Select an “Export Version” that you want; (Sothink SWF Decompiler 7.4 has supported Flash CS6.
6. Click OK.

Open the fla with Adobe Flash. Wooo, it’s similar with the original. The process is very simple, isn’t it? If you just want to make a little modification of the swf file, SWF Decompiler is also an editor. Sothink SWF Decompiler offers various manual drawing tools and you can modify or redesign the shapes embedded in their SWF files directly without Adobe Flash. Still in above window, let us transform the bottle shape.

1. Expand this SWF file in “Export” panel, and select the shape that needs to be edited;
2. Click on “Edit” button on the toolbar;
3. The interface will be switched to “Edit”, then click on “Transform” icon on the toolbar and make transformation;
4. Click Finish and save the swf file.

These are my two favorite functions. In fact, this software cannot only do these. It is also able to convert  SWF to HTML5, extract and save Flash resources in multiple formats, etc.
