When I create menu based on dynamic php data, I only get one level of data to show.

Originally created the menu with only parent node, hopeing it was that easy, but it only show everything at top level

Next I added a "sub node" and got to see one item below each top level item.

Then I added some conditions to sub node to force it to show me data under each top node
.... but only next level below

So I added a third "sub node" and gave it some more conditons which showed me three levels.

Can you tell me why I can't have it dynamically build all the necessary sub levels automatically

regards
Michael

Sorry mate,
I thought I'd uploaded two attachments with the post.
My mistake

http://www.tdspecialists.com.au/webadmin/tree/
sothink2.php is the closest I got, but in this instance I need to explicitedly write conditions for both child sets.

cheers for taking an interest
Michael

Can someone send me an example of a multi-level tree menu, as the example provided is only 2 levels.
I can force it to do x number of levels, but this is not desirable.

I found reference to this issue in this post

Hi,
thanks for sending me this sample

Can you confirm.
This example implies that I have three tables
Category, Product, Template

What happens if I want to have a fourth level
Do I need another table ?

Currently I have one table.
Which I can manage with hacks.

I have emailed requesting the working copy for registered users.
I'm hoping that the fortcoming example will be more expansive

thanks
Michael

depends on your programming knowledge and how much you can think, you can use 4 tables, 3 tables or just one, we cant tell you what to use, its up to you what way you want. i use one table for all my multi level menus.

Cindyrae,

Thanks for the example, I tried to re-construct what I think the database would look like from what Tables/Fields are called and the tutorial here:

http://www.sothink.com/product/treemenu ... /phpdb.htm

I am attaching the zip file with the .stm file, as well as my database .sql file and my php file that I am running. If someone could please look at it, that would be great or perhaps upload a sample with an .sql file that already works so that I can go from there. I don't know what the problem is as it seems the database is being successfully queried and everything drawn out. I have attached the <body> and part of the <head> portion so that it can immediately be seen if something is wrong. It is below. Thank you,

Brian
