I am currently evaluating DHTML for possible purchase. It works nicely except for one thing. Once I implemented set the bgcolor to transparent and implemented the applet, the menu bar shows up with a white box the size of the applet. Perhaps I have done something wrong? I would like to be able to have a background image with the applet set over the top of it without covering it up.

Thanks!

The whole background of Java Applet can not be transparent. This is decided by the Java language's property. You can set the menu item's background to be transparent, but not the whole's background.

Suggestion: you can set the whole menu's background's color as same as your page, or use the same background image.

Sincerely,
Webmaster

The tool you are using is CutePage DHTMLMenu 1.0, not any Java Applet tool. The DHTML Menu is writen in Dynamic HTML language, so it supports you to insert the words under the Menu.
